Review Centre: Covers Bands

"As a wedding venue we get to listen to a huge range of bands with prices varying from £500-£5,000. Sadly price has nothing to do -or so it seems- with professionalism, personality and ability! Jolly Polly and the Pirates is very much at the bottom end of this price spectrum, but very, very much at the top of the performance ratings! To sum them up? They are musicians with really nice personalities who have great technical ability and understanding of sound, mixing and the audience. On bass guitar and vocals is Polly, who is probably one of the most energetic singers we have come across, with great variations, presence and depth. On lead guitar (and keys) Jon has great technical skills and enthusiasm for his role in the band, and on drums (and occasionally keys at the same time!!) a drummer who actually loves his drums - at last someone who realises drums are an instrument, not an object to take out your aggression on, perhaps that is down to his experience and talent. Individually they are great - as a band they are awesome! - Certainly at the top of our list and always hoped for! Alpheton Hall Barns - Historic Suffolk Wedding Venue "

"Where to even start?! WOW! We’re honestly all still buzzing! What a night we all had on Saturday! Honestly, it was so, so special for us and you guys were the biggest part of that. I knew you were going to be amazing but you were amazing AND THEN SOME! It’s so lovely to hear that you were all loving life too – that means a lot! I just can’t thank you enough personally for all of your help and advice in the lead up to the party – you’ve been so helpful, accommodating and reassuring the whole time and just been so nice to be in touch with! It’s been such a pleasure! And again on the day you were a complete star and took so much work away from us as we literally didn’t have to worry about you guys – you had it all in hand, even the clearing up – naughty! Haha! Please pass on our sincere thanks to Dale and the whole band who are all so super talented, and so super fun! They absolutely made our night! I had high expectations and they smashed them! I have to give a shout out to our singers, I mean how incredible were they?! So much charisma and sass- I think I’m actually obsessed with them haha! Not forgetting the Swing Singer and Quartet you also provided. Amazing! Thanks for making it such a special night for us and our guests – you knocked all of our socks off! We will absolutely be recommending you to anyone and everyone and wouldn’t hesitate to book you guys again for any future event that we’re having. You should all be so proud of the overall package you provide as a band – it’s unique and it’s special. THANK YOU for everything. "The band played for my 50th and made us all feel part of a truly fantastic musical experience. They are brilliant! The lead singer worked so well with the audience and even let a family member get up and sing! We felt they were part of our party and brought heart and soul to the table. They had a underground dance feel and we couldn’t believe we actually had some of our favourite songs played by the original artists. They were so understated and nice - it was only after they finished that we found out who they were. (-:"

"Back on Track stepped in at last minute to play at our works Xmas party having been let down by another entertainer due to illness. They were really good attracting lots of great comments and compliments. Would highly recommend them."

"Perfect performers for any wedding! Outstanding performance both during the ceremony and in the evening. They went the extra mile learning our favourite song which was not well know and tailored it into an extremely personal rendition. Not only did they fill the day with happy music, they blew us away during the evening with their livelier covers. Punctual, smartly dressed and experts in music equipment leaving us reassured that nothing would go wrong with the equipment during the speeches."

"Phil and Pete came all the way to Gretna Green yesterday to sing at our wedding and they were fantastic. From the start Phil was punctual in answering all queries and explaining everything. He always answered emails very quickly. They even learnt a new tune for our first dance. Our guests loved them and their music and all said how funny they were which added to the experience. Would highly recommend them for any special occasion. 5 stars all the way. Thanks to you both"

"A huge thank you to Chris and The Band for playing at our wedding at Priston Mill on 13th May. We had seen the band a few times at gigs so we knew they were excellent,but they absolutely rocked our wedding, the dance floor was full from start to finish, young and old! It was just what we had dreamed of. Not only were the band great, but Chris gave us some great advice beforehand about timings etc based on his experience- which was spot on and really helped. They set up and packed away quickly and dealt directly with the venue so didn't disturb our day at all. Really professional and most importantly played great floor filling classics, and the vocals worked perfectly with every song. Finally, the band also managed our playlist for before their set and during the interval too which was fab. If you are thinking of booking this band- do it!"
