Review Centre: Wedding Bands

"As a wedding venue we get to listen to a huge range of bands with prices varying from £500-£5,000. Sadly price has nothing to do -or so it seems- with professionalism, personality and ability! Jolly Polly and the Pirates is very much at the bottom end of this price spectrum, but very, very much at the top of the performance ratings! To sum them up? They are musicians with really nice personalities who have great technical ability and understanding of sound, mixing and the audience. On bass guitar and vocals is Polly, who is probably one of the most energetic singers we have come across, with great variations, presence and depth. On lead guitar (and keys) Jon has great technical skills and enthusiasm for his role in the band, and on drums (and occasionally keys at the same time!!) a drummer who actually loves his drums - at last someone who realises drums are an instrument, not an object to take out your aggression on, perhaps that is down to his experience and talent. Individually they are great - as a band they are awesome! - Certainly at the top of our list and always hoped for! Alpheton Hall Barns - Historic Suffolk Wedding Venue "

"Hi Suzy I'm sorry it has taken me so long to write - I cant believe how quickly time has flown. I wanted to thank you and the band for your wonderful performance at our wedding on 23rd March. We had such a great day and the band (and jazz pianist) were just perfect. I hope that you all had a fun evening too. Thank you also to your lovely drummer for donating his drumsticks to my extremely keen little cousin Louie - as you could probably tell, he is determined he will be a drummer when he grows up and the gift made him just about burst with excitement! "We booked the Hot Hats for our Silver Wedding party. I was a little nervous about booking a band on-line, but needn't have worried - these guys are awesome! We wanted a small band (because of space) but also wanted fun, energy and everyone up and dancing. These boys delivered - and then some! I had an idea of how I wanted the evening to be and every dream I had was exceeded. These guys were punctual, efficient, polite, professional, fun, charming and they can really play! I lost count of the number of people who commented on how great they were (even my dad!!). The dance floor was full for the entire time they were playing and I think people could have gone on dancing for hours to their music. We unreservedly recommend these lads and are now trying to find another occasion for a party so we can book them again!"

"Last weekend we were fortunate enough to secure Lazy Marmalade as our band for our wedding. It’s always stressful finding a band for your wedding; one of the most important days of your life and it’s so hard to know where to start looking. Bottom line- Lazy Marmalade were immense. Great guys super friendly and most of all brilliant musicians. We had them throughout the whole day - ceremony, drinks and canapés and then evening DJ and live set. I couldn’t get over how many guests were commenting how great they were and our dance floor was full all night. Would 100% recommend- don’t look any further. Thanks Jon and Alex- legends- thanks Kay and Jeff."

"A big thanks to Andy and the rest of the band for playing at our garden wedding reception in May. They were extremely professional and accommodating of our musical wish-list and went down a storm with our guests – an international mix of people who particularly loved the live music!! The dance floor (and surrounding areas!) remained full at all times and even the groom and some of his ushers got to have a go performing too which was a highlight! Thanks again and cannot recommend highly enough."

"Catherine and Danny played in our home for our house warming/pre wedding get together for our family and friends. They were truly amazing and added a great atmosphere to the party! I've had so much positive feedback from all our guests who thought the duo were fabulous! We would not hesitate in recommending them to anyone. They were punctual, professional and really friendly not to mention great musicians! We are that impressed we are already organising a summer party for July 2015 in our home for them to come and perform again!!! (Party 10/10/14)."

"We had The StereoBeats play at our Wedding Reception and Wow did they impress. The dance floor was never empty. Every guest was absolutely loving life with their selection. They really felt like they were having as much fun as everyone else which gave an amazing feel to the reception. I would 1 million percent recommend them for any, any, any occasion if you are into having a good time!! Thank you once again to you all ?"

"Rhythm Live played our wedding and were absolutely perfect! We had so many compliments on the music and they absolutely nailed the vibe we were going for. They also accommodated our genre and first/last song requests flawlessly. They seemed like lovely blokes too which always helps! Can 100% recommend Spark Up Band to others. Thank you Ian & co!"
