"Katie & Stephen have jetted off to Antigua for a couple of weeks and no doubt they will want to thank you themselves on their return, but we wanted to get in touch ourselves to say how great the band were on Sunday. Everyone enjoyed the music and without doubt they contributed a great deal to making it an unforgettable experience, not only for Katie & Stephen, but all the guests as well; they really got the party started. Everyone has been commenting on how great the band was and that means a lot to us. We put our faith in you on the biggest day of our lives and you did not disappoint. I think I can safely say that it won't be the last time we see you. Anyone who reads this should get themselves along to a The Business gig and if you're lucky enough to be getting married I would struggle to think of a better band to play on your wedding day. We’ve been to a few weddings now but you have been the best band by a mile and kept so many people dancing they wouldn’t all fit on the dance floor. "Rating 5/6 : Very Enjoyable Absolute Mayhem The Horse & Chains, Bushey on Saturday 30 September 2023 It's a rare thing to go into a local pub and hear a keyboard player who has been described as a musical "genius" by none other than David Bowie. This is no tall story either. The musician Billy Ritchie was the first player in rock music to give keyboards a prominent role -- and that was before Keith Emerson (ELP) and Rick Wakeman came on the scene. Billy told me that he remained good friends with the Thin White Duke until his death in 2016. Lanark-born Mr Ritchie now provides the skilful and fancy keyboards and records backing tracks for his latest incarnation Mayhem with talented female singer Carol Leslie. Carol is a really strong vocalist with a gutsy style. This dynamic duo started their first set at the cosy Sebright Arms with Elvis's late sixties' classic Suspicious Minds. The second song was a surprise -- Kirsty MacColl's comedy number There's A Guy Works Down The Chip Shop Swears His Elvis. It was a perfect choice after the first song. Carol and Billy select their material wisely and give their audience something very different from the predictable Mustang Sally, Brown Eyed Girl and I Saw Her Standing There, churned out by so many pub bands. So it was great to hear Georgio Moroder and Phil Oakey's electro smash Together In Electric Dreams, Matchbox's catchy rocker Rockabilly Rebel, Starship's uplifting We Built This City (on which Billy demonstrated his keyboard dexterity) and Solomon Burke's gospel-ish Cry To Me. And that was just the first half. Carol is happy to tackle songs usually associated with male vocalists and she started part two with a raucous version of Bryan Adams' rocker Summer Of 69. If you have never seen Mayhem, ask Billy to perform Light My Fire, the Doors rock classic from 1967. This was a sheer musical masterclass as he re-created both vocally and instrumentally this great song. Billy has a rich, tuneful voice and this was a stunning performance. Other highlights in the second half included Journey's rock anthem Don't Stop Believing, Carol's gritty interpretation if Shania Twain's Man I Feel Like A Woman and a fine performance of Bon Jovi's Living On A Prayer A total of 24 songs and I cannot wait to see this duo again. My only concern is their name. I think many club and pubgoers might think Mayhem are a heavy metal band rather than an all-round, top class duo. "Incredible band! We had the 8-piece play at our wedding recently and they absolutely made our day. The dance floor was completely packed from first dance to last and we've lost count of how many of our guests have raved to us about them since. They were all both super talented musicians and brilliant performers - the horn section wandering into the dance floor went down a storm each time they did it. Every song they played was a banger and there was something in their set for everyone. Mark is a lovely guy and was super responsive and professional throughout, constantly going above and beyond to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. On the day, everything from their side went exactly as planned and they took our delayed timings completely in their stride. We cannot recommend them highly enough!"

"We first witnessed the power of SWB at my sister's wedding in 2022 (thanks, McMasters) and when it came to planning our own wedding, we knew we just had to have these guys. So we stole them. SWB are INCREDIBLE. They absolutely smashed it on our wedding day and are still such a huge talking point whenever we discuss our day with anyone. Everything from the banging setlist they put together for us, to the perfect version of our first dance song they learnt and played for us, it was everything we wanted and more. We are so so grateful for the effort and energy these guys put into each and every song. So many people commented on how perfectly put together these guys were and the clear talent they all have, and we absolutely agree. We also had SWB do the DJ set for the evening, which I would absolutely recommend as an add on. Communication, booking and everything in between was also a breeze (which is always a good thing when you have a trillion things to sort out!) The friendliest bunch you could meet. Thank you a million times over for being such a huge part of our day, SWB. We absolutely love you guys!!"
