Review Centre: Covers Bands

"As a wedding venue we get to listen to a huge range of bands with prices varying from £500-£5,000. Sadly price has nothing to do -or so it seems- with professionalism, personality and ability! Jolly Polly and the Pirates is very much at the bottom end of this price spectrum, but very, very much at the top of the performance ratings! To sum them up? They are musicians with really nice personalities who have great technical ability and understanding of sound, mixing and the audience. On bass guitar and vocals is Polly, who is probably one of the most energetic singers we have come across, with great variations, presence and depth. On lead guitar (and keys) Jon has great technical skills and enthusiasm for his role in the band, and on drums (and occasionally keys at the same time!!) a drummer who actually loves his drums - at last someone who realises drums are an instrument, not an object to take out your aggression on, perhaps that is down to his experience and talent. Individually they are great - as a band they are awesome! - Certainly at the top of our list and always hoped for! Alpheton Hall Barns - Historic Suffolk Wedding Venue "

"These guys are truly amazing. They played at our wedding in August 2023 and had everybody up dancing. All of my guests loved them and said how good they were. Cannot recomended enough! Get them booked, they made our special day even better! "

"Truly the BEST band ever and the most AMAZING people, If you are reading these reviews wondering if The Players are the band for you then let me reassure you that they are...... As a Wedding Photographer I have seen my fair share of bands but The Players were an easy pick for us, they really do know how to liven up the dance floor. We let them have free reign over what music to play and they picked some corkers. All our guests were raving over them and still are 2months later..in fact our friends loved them so much they are also booking them for their wedding :) They made our first dance so special and absolutely nailed the song, so much so we liked there version more than the original, I got in touch with Paddy from The Players and asked if it was possible for them to record there version of the song so I could give it to my wife for her Birthday - a few weeks later and I have the recording - Sara is going to LOVE it!!! If you are looking for a band then I honestly can't recommend them enough, They were easy to book, answered our questions promptly, came to the venue and set up with no issues, played great music all night and got our guests on the dance floor...they smashed it. "An amazing evening listening to Sundown! A great variety of music to suit all. Amazing singer with lovely tones. A great afternoon/evening had by all! "We hired The Line Up to play at our wedding and were not disappointed. They arrived at our venue nice and early (a weight off any bride's mind!) and from start to finish were incredible. The music quality was fantastic with a great variation and they even learnt our first dance song for us. They even had a personalised sign at the front with our names and date which was very touching and made it seem very personal! Would highly recommend this band for anyone considering these guys for their wedding band! "

I, myself, would not write a review but the band were just so very talented and had everyone at the wedding just raving about them. Brought a great atmosphere to the evening and were so responsive throughout the planning stage too. They are a sure hit with all guests and could not have been better. Wish we could do it all again. "Absolutely fantastic! We got married in February this year and from the beginning, they were easily contactable with lots of options for band size which was very helpful. We went for a band and DJ option and extended the dj finishing time too. In the night, they were fantastic. They accomadated one of our guests singing our 1st dance and from then the dance floor was full. One of our guests was also our videograoher and commented afterwards about how there was no 'down time' or 'lull' in the night as the band and DJ read the room well and kept the dance floor full. As someone who is often on the dance floor on my own, this was exactly what I wanted for my wedding! There were points where they encouraged audience participation, with my dad reliving his youth singing with them, and apparently my and a friend 'helping' with a song too. I cannot recommend these guys enough! Thankyou for keeping people dancing well into the night!"

"This amazing band performed, at my daughter and new son-in-law's wedding on Saturday, 16.11.24. What can I say, they totally entertained us and kept the dancefloor FULL all night. They know EXACTLY what's needed to add to a special joyous occasion, so you don't need to worry. Booking was so smooth too. Song choices are extensive and so many sing along bangers, we just loved it, as did the guests judging by so many positive comments. Would totally 100% recommend."
