Review Centre: Acoustic Bands

"Mia and her Miacats played at our Silver Wedding Anniversary. They played as an acoustic duo as people arrived, nice and calm and in the background, but cranked it up with a great variety for two sets with the full band, and got everyone dancing. Many of our guests complimented us on our choice of band and the performance of the band, which was really great to hear. We would have no hesitation at all in hiring the Miacats again or recommending them to others."

"London Two Cellos were absolutely fantastic- book them now! They played our wedding ceremony at Hackney Town Hall, and really for us and our guests, their beautiful music was the best part. The cellos sounded amazing in the venue and added an elegance to the start of our wedding day. They were also so easy to work with. Lucy replied to all my questions, and even our vendor’s questions, lightning fast. They were accommodating and said yes right away to our full song list, which was a mix of classic and modern songs. In what can be a stressful time, they just made things nice and easy. For what it’s worth, they also dressed the part. Even though we never specified a dress code, they looked fabulous, and blended right in with our formally dressed wedding guests. While we only met them briefly, they gave us the gift of the most beautiful and memorable music for our wedding ceremony. We can’t thank or recommend them highly enough. - Sarah & Ryan"

"What a great evening we had at the Running Horse last week. We had never been to the venue before and enjoyed a nice evening meal before the live entertainment started at 9pm. What a treat we were in for with some great nostalgic songs professionally performed by the talented Gary Rollagher. I will keep my eyes peeled for his next venue."

"We just wanted to say thank you to you and to the rest of the band for the most fantastic two sets at our wedding. Friends and family are still asking us about you all and saying it's the best band they've heard at a wedding. We were delighted with all the songs that you chose and especially grateful to you for playing 'Tonight I'll be Staying Here with You'. The accordion sounded great in that song! You judged the mood of the evening perfectly and the music moved along beautifully in response to this. I think it was a real highlight of the day for us and all of our guests, especially the children who loved seeing you all playing your instruments."

"The Northern Ceilidh band performed at our wedding reception and were fabulous! Jon and the others are extremely talented musicians, and Joyce an experienced and engaging caller. The dance floor for the ceilidh was full from start to finish, and our guests had so much fun. Prior to the wedding, Jon and Joyce went to the trouble of videoing a sequence for us so that we could practice a ‘first dance’ with friends. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Wonderful people, wonderful musicians and a wonderful night of dancing. If you’re looking for a fantastic Ceilidh band, look no further! "

"In Edinburgh, this is a rare chance to hear beautiful bossa nova music band. Today I was walking on the street to go somewhere for enduring an another cloudy summer day and right after cross the load the rhythm of bossa nova came out from a Bar near by. I got just carried away with the sound then just went in the bar alone ehich I have never tried to do, lol. (As a married and an introvert Asian woman perhaps) Sérgio was playing guitar with a drummer and their bossa nova playing got me almost tears came up. It was so beautiful moment for me. How deadly I have been wishing to hear bossa nova in Edinburgh. I have no idea why I haven’t been able to find his name when I google any type of bossa nova concert or live event in Edinburgh while I am living here almost 3 years. :-( Their music even brought sunshine back here in Scotland at the end of their performing today. lol. So appreciate for that I could have their great performing today under the sunshine in summer! I agree with the previous reply as he wrote that many people at bar or restaurant don’t listen to the music. However, at least today I can tell you that there was only their music and I in my universe at the moment and it was full of life feeling. Thank you Sérgio!"
