Review Centre: Duos / Small Groups

"Appearing at my pub, THE CARPENTERS, London E2 tonight, MAYHEM was a surprisingly good act, playing with a verve and dynamism unusual in a mere pub covers band. Outstanding harmony vocals, and a quite brilliant keyboard player, who, I discovered afterwards, had been described by none other than David Bowie as “a genius”, appearing on a Sky TV documentary called “Trailblazers” in recent years, touted as the pioneer of a whole music era. Hearing him play ‘live’, I wouldn’t doubt it. And his sidekick, Carol, was no slouch herself, outstanding and distinctive vocals throughout. Will be out of our price league soon, I would say. "

"Lucinda and her wonderful pianist played at our wedding in the most wonderful courtyard for reception drinks. I personally would have loved to sit down and listen to their whole set but as the groom I had other duties! They learnt 2 songs for us in addition which was a massive bonus. They played a great set of contemporary music and I had endless guests commenting on how perfect the music/reception was perfect. For me where music is such an important part of a wedding, I could have not asked for anything more!"

"I have seen these amazing guys perform many times and booked them for a fundraising event too. They are lovely people and always get the crowd singing and dancing. They create a fantastic atmosphere too, I can't recommend them highly enough."

"I have recently booked Sarah for an annual event for the second year and once again was very happy. Sarah is very easy to work with, both before and after the event, calm and professional, which made my job a lot easier. Sarah's voice has a lovely quality which provided a nice ambience as guests arrived and we received a lot of compliments. I would not hesitate to recommend her for any kind of event and would definitely use her again."

"We booked Double or Nothing for our wedding and it was brilliant fun. Tom has got a fantastic voice and they got everyone up dancing to a mix of well known covers. Being a two piece we didn't expect them to generate such a party vibe and crowd on the dance floor. Would highly recommend for any party!"

"We had The Pharaoh's sing at our wedding reception in the garden, they were AMAZING. We had loads of great comments and other friends asking for her contact details. We even requested various songs that she didn't do, which were special to us and really made the day. Got to say "you've got the love " was just bloody brilliant.."

"Ryan and Jenny played our festival wedding in July 2023. They stepped in at the last minute when a band we had booked previously cancelled. They were brilliant from the start. Jenny was responsive to all communication and immediately put us at ease. They took into account the type of music we said we liked and reflected this in our set list. They let us use their microphone for speeches during the interval. Can’t say enough good things about the Canny Sound. They really helped make our wedding and I wouldn’t hesitate to book them again."
