Review Centre: String Quartets

"Where were you on Wednesday 25th May at 6pm? If the answer is anywhere but at Gratot church, you missed a treat! The people who were in the audience were richly entertained by a trio of talented musicians who freely gave of their time in order to raise funds in support of Ukraine. The programme was widely varied and featured Irene Donnelly (who sang in four languages, no mean feat ) , hitting some incredibly high notes, and violinist/violist Anne Tupling who played with a mellifluous or exciting tone as demanded by the different genres of music.  The concert started appropriately with Ukrainian folk music by Verchovino, featuring all three performers, in which you could sense the stamping of boots and clapping of hands, portrayed by the strong rhythmic beat. This set the high standard for the rest of the evening. We were treated to music by composers ranging from Handel to Gershwin, Puccini to Cole Porter, and also to the haunting Ashokan Farewell (written 40 years ago by the American composer, Jay Ungar), played with great sensitivity by Anne. This was possibly my favourite performance in the musical pot pourri. The evening was a resounding success and raised the wonderful sum of £600 to go to help those who have lost so much. Thank you for organising the event and bravo to the musicians for a memorable evening. You seemed to enjoy performing as much as we enjoyed listening. Encore please!"

Having you there to play the entrance and exit music added the magic we were looking for at the already fabulous Rivington Hall Barn. "Hi Anne, Sorry for my tardiness getting back to you! The past past 24 hours have been a bit of a whirlwind!!! The strings trio were fantastic! They did really well and the guests loved it. "We were both overjoyed at the services you provided for our wedding on 16th April 2015 at The Upperhouse, Barlaston, Staffs. From our original enquiry, right through to the final played piece on the day, the total experience and contact was nothing but professional. You gave us suggestions to help to us decide what we wanted based on your experience, but were also more than happy to accommodate any thoughts or ideas we had. It was great to see the extensive repertoire of the musicians beforehand to help make our choices and to see our date on your websites up coming events. On the big day, none of our guests knew of the trio performing and were absolutely amazed at the playing on their arrival, at the ceremony and the wedding breakfast. Everyone commented on how good the music was and how it delicately enhanced the occasion, especially as we were able to have the ceremony outside in the pagoda at venues gardens.
