Review Centre: Celtic Groups & Ceilidh Bands

"Thank you, guys, for finding time beforehand to rehearse with Amy, the bridegroom’s sister, who sang Elton John’s “Your Song” for the bride and groom’s 1st dance. It was beautiful and very special to have her sing their first song with accompaniment from the band. I think everyone was very moved by it (we are hoping someone filmed it but are not sure!). The dance floor was packed all evening for the ceilidh and we all had great fun - which was the intention. It was an amazing day, evening and whole weekend - we carried on the celebrations on Sunday! Thank you to Black Velvet Band for helping to make the wedding so memorable. "

"Hi Fiddlestix, Just a quick note to say thank you very much for the fabulous performances and ceilidh yesterday. The music was hugely complimented by our guests, and we had a wonderful time. Thanks to Mary’s great calling everyone got into the swing of it so readily - even the ceilidh novices! John’s mum Jill wanted to pass on her feedback too: “the music was highly impressive and the caller was top quality - we very much enjoyed the ceilidh”. "The Annasach Ceilidh Band made the evening of our wedding in The Netherlands unforgettable, motivating Dutch and French feet alike to dance the Scottish steps. Even my 62-year-old aunt was on her feet all evening and remarked at the end that from now on, she only wants Scottish weddings. The band also dealt very professionally with some unforeseen circumstances, rebooking their own flights when their original flights were cancelled, taking a lot of stress away from us. I will happily recommend them for any wedding or party in Scotland or abroad, and look forward to visiting one of their Ceilidhs in Edinburgh when we next find ourselves there!"

"They were absolutely brilliant. They really got everyone up on the dance floor and led the sets so that all the guests could really enjoy the dancing. We had a lot over from Canada and they still haven’t stopped telling us how much they enjoyed it. The Scots amongst us also appreciated how good they were and how hard they worked to ensure it was great fun. They helped make the wedding a very special and unforgettable day for Joseph and Amanda. "

"The ladies were all extremely talented, each offering several instruments, needless to say we were very impressed. The music was a good combination of Ceilidh and contemporary, as we have requested, they did not disappoint. Thank you again for a successful evening."

"Patrick is a true gentleman and anyone would be lucky to have him as their piper !!!!! We were impressed that Patrick offered to learn any song of our choice for my sisters wedding in a short amount of time. He learned my parents wedding song from 35 Years ago... Elvis I Cant Help Falling In Love With You . Thank you Patrick, my sisters and brother in laws wedding would not have been the same without Patrick !"

" We hired the Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio for a party, and we could not have been happier with their performance. The band’s admin team reached out prior to the event to make arrangements, and communication was maintained throughout. Set up was quick and efficient in the background of our event, and before we knew it, we were forming lines for our first Ceilidh. It was a mixed group in terms of experience, but Phil delivered clear instructions prior to each dance, and everyone quickly picked it up. The trio are all exceptionally skilled musicians, and the music throughout the dancing was fantastic. We booked two hours of dancing and found that to be the perfect amount of time post-dinner. Black Velvet Band created a fun and lively atmosphere at our event and the Ceilidh dancing was enjoyed by all. We will definitely be in contact with the band for future events and would recommend them to all."

"We've seen the Shamrock Experience twice and loved their music. Don't be deceived by their name. They aren't all about Irish jigs - more folk with a rock twist - think Seth Lakeman - esque..."

"Hi Michael. Just sending a little message to tell you how much Michelle and I really enjoyed the night with you guys. The dancing was fab. Loved it: our favourites were the slide slide slide up down and loved the train and spinning one. Every ones been talking bout it since. Take care and see you again for Michelle’s 40th."
