"We were recommended to hire Absolute to play at my wife’s 50th party we were not disappointed. Guys turned up on time, were highly professional, but most importantly had the dance floor full for the entire evening. They received so many compliments. We went for the 6 piece line-up. "Wow! look no further in your search for a band! Absolute played an acoustic set during the day and then 2 full band sets in the evening of our wedding on 7/8/21. All of which were incredible! They were so adaptive when we ended up with the first dance at the end of the first set and really felt the vibe of the wedding and selected a great range of songs to suit!! "Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio – Hatty’s Wedding – September 2025 Such a wonderful band, and would definitely have them again. Everyone enjoyed the dancing even if they were just watching. Even my husband who never dances joined in and is now a ceilidh addict. 10/10! Highly recommend!"

"We had a brilliant time! It was a very hot day and the band were very accommodating, adjusting the playing times and breaking up the dancing with songs. There were only 30 of us, but everyone danced and several people commented on the quality of the music. The band even played “Waltzing Matilda” for the Australian contingent, who all sang along! Thanks very much BVB for making my party so special."

"Thank you, guys, for finding time beforehand to rehearse with Amy, the bridegroom’s sister, who sang Elton John’s “Your Song” for the bride and groom’s 1st dance. It was beautiful and very special to have her sing their first song with accompaniment from the band. I think everyone was very moved by it (we are hoping someone filmed it but are not sure!). The dance floor was packed all evening for the ceilidh and we all had great fun - which was the intention. It was an amazing day, evening and whole weekend - we carried on the celebrations on Sunday! Thank you to Black Velvet Band for helping to make the wedding so memorable. "

"Brilliant band for my sons charity night in Northampton. I booked a 5 piece as I wanted a fiddle player, great musicians, Steve top singer, Luke the engineer was really kind and very helpful with a video link of Zac. "We booked Funk With Us for our wedding in October and wow, it was the best decision ever!! The music and dancing part of the wedding was so important for us and SWU absolutely smashed it - so much energy from start to finish - we (and our guests) never left the dancefloor. It exactly what we'd hoped for and dreamed of... especially after 2 postponements! We loved being able to choose our favourite music from the SWU repertoire - which Lilac then transformed into the perfect setlist for our party. After the wedding, so many of our guests commented on how amazing the band was - and its the music makes the party!! Huge thank you to Lilac and Remko for everything."

"Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio provided a brilliant ceilidh for our wedding celebrations at Goldney Hall, Bristol on 12 August 2017. What a fantastic evening! The band entertained our hardy Scottish guests with well-known Scottish dances but it was most enjoyable to see English friends and family ceilidh dancing for the first time and loving it! The dances were called very clearly and were quite ambitious so there was much hilarity. It was infectious fun and everyone got involved. (The dance floor was almost too small!) Mike and the band were extremely accommodating, professional and enthusiastic. The band has a huge repertoire and organised the evening flawlessly, from our first dance (Gay Gordons) to the throwing of the bouquet and the final Circassian Circle. Highly recommended. Thanks again for a fantastic evening of fun!"

"What an absolutely fantastic night. I knew you would be a good band from your video, but you were even better than that! Brilliant music with lots of energy. Thank you so much for making Jessica and Andrew’s wedding one of the best days of their lives. Jessica said to me half way through that the dancing was exactly what she had wanted. She was very happy. Unfortunately Roger missed the two of them playing - but we have a great photo - attached. It was a long way to come so I hope you got back OK and I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. We had lots of compliments about you"
