Review Centre: Barn Dance Bands

"The ceilidh was a great success (31st December 2013 Tuesday Goldsmith's College, Lewisham Way, New Cross, London SE14 6NW) the orchestra really enjoyed themselves! Please pass on my thanks to Wraggle Taggle for all they did - they were marvellous. If our residency is back at Goldsmiths next year, we'd love to have them back, but I'm afraid we don't know what we're doing until the last minute. I'll certainly be back in touch if we need a band for our Spring/Summer residencies though! Thanks again Ben Salter, Head of Support, National Youth Orchestra 20th January 2014"

"Barn With Us played at our school charity dinner last weekend and I am going to let the pupils do the talking: Vibrant; great company; made it a lot of fun; great singing and music; the callers explained everything really well and made sure everyone understood what they should do (the dance was demonstrated to me at this time!); lively; really good atmosphere; they were funny; great energy - you get the picture! Big thank you to Lilac, Remko and everyone else involved."

"We just wanted to say a massive thank you to you and all the band, and of course your caller. We absolutely loved hearing you all play again and it was wonderful seeing all of our friends and family enjoying the dancing and music. It is something we will never forget.  We’re sorry that we weren’t running to time on the day, but thank you for being so understanding and I hope you all managed to enjoy some cake and cheese whilst you were waiting to set up.  We will be keeping an eye out for any future dates in your diary and coming along to another ceilidh, think we’ve got the bug! "Kip and the blue jewel team were absolutely amazing. They got the whole crowd on the dance floor and everyone loved it, especially the ones with no experience of ceilidhs before! They were brilliant to work with and super flexible in the face of a delay in the schedule. Cannot recommend them highly enough! "

"We are so grateful to Black Velvet Ceilidh Trio for making our fundraising ceilidh a great success with delightful music and dancing. The level of challenge of the dances was pitched just right to tempt our guests (who were aged from 4 to 84) to have a go – and they all came away with big smiles on their faces! Phil – the band’s friendly caller – gave just the right amount of instruction and then a quick recap before each dance and was happy to adapt dances to suit some of the children. Arrangements and payment were all handled professionally and efficiently. Thank you so much for helping us raise over £300 for our cause!"

"I've wanted to try live music in our little Country pub for the longest time and Lucy and Jack were so great I'll definitely be having them back again and again. Engaging, entertaining, and had people up dancing all night. Can't recommend enough!"

"We had seen the Band before at a School fund raising Barn Dance in Newton Ferrers. They were superb then and they were again at our Twinning Barn Dance. There are plenty of good Bands around for Barn Dances but this Band brings a few extras. Not only are they first class instrumentalists but they have great callers. They even speak French! We have no hesitation in rating them 10/10. "
