Review Centre: Barn Dance Bands

"Dear Mick, Thank you very much to you and your band for playing at our barn dance (15th November 2025 Saturday The Claire Tiltman Centre, Gantry Place, Cotton Lane, Stone, Greenhithe, DA9 9FA}. All our guests had a wonderful time and most of them have said how good the band was and how clear and easy to follow the caller was. Mary managed to get even the most reluctant up and dancing with enough confidence to take part. We shall certainly recommend you, should anyone ask for your details. "Thank you so much for playing at our wedding last month. Everyone had such a great time. The Ceildh was perfect as it got everyone up and dancing, and no-one felt self-conscious. You played a really good mix of songs that suited all abilities and provided great guidance. It was great to end with "Strip the willow" and a 30 second "spin-as-fast-as-you-can". My husband and I danced to as many of the songs as we could, and we were knackered by the end. You really read the room, allowing breaks and continuing with the Ceildh as long as people were dancing (as we had booked the DJ package). We booked you as you had played at my friends wedding in April '17 and we had never had so much fun dancing before. We would fully recommend you to anyone planning an event, especially a wedding. I would also suggest you to anyone who isn't sure what entertainment to have. "

" Black Velvet Band Irish Duo came to play at the Christmas Party for our CrossFit Gym held in the farmhouse on the site; they were easy and helpful to deal with from the start; everything clear and simple to follow. The performance was perfect for the occasion and Mike and his colleague were easy going and a pleasure to have around. They spent time with a guest who wanted to learn how to play one of the instruments and were great for getting people up and dancing. Thoroughly recommend the Irish Duo! "

"I can not recommend The New Fox Band enough. They had everyone dancing (from kids to our generation at end twenties to our parents) within 1 minute at our wedding and it was a fantastic atmosphere. They were brilliant at explaining the dances to the novices (incuding all the guests from outside the UK who'd never danced a Ceilidh before) so that all our guests had a really fun time. Communication was fantastic and they were really flexible with setting up and sound checking to fit in with the rest of the evening."

"We booked Kellys Heroes to play at our wedding earlier this year and we were not disappointed! Everyone at our wedding was up on the dance floor, dancing for the entire set, they're great musicians with a great set list. I think all of our guests could have gone on for the rest of the night. Everyone still tells us that it was one of the highlights of any wedding they've been to. Thank you! "

"We booked the Black Velvet Band Gypsy Duo (accordion and fiddle) to play at our wedding celebration garden party in August. Mike and Jase played exactly the music we wanted, a lovely mix of traditional, modern, jazz, Irish and were happy to play requests. We live on a farm and when the duo started up, all our cows came running up the field and stayed close to enjoy the lovely sounds coming from the garden. I have to say, the two were perfect for our garden party and the sound of the fiddle and accordion ringing out into the evening was absolutely lovely and was thoroughly enjoyed by our guests whose ages ranged from six to ninety! Mike and Jase are lovely, affable chaps and we should have no hesitation in booking them again if we have another “do”! I highly recommend them. "

"Bryan and I wanted to pass on our grateful thanks for your terrific entertainment at our recent wedding. Your band was incredibly accomplished and we were delighted that you were able to take on the Argentine Tango piece by Canaro that we had specially requested as our first dance , with absolute gusto. You absolutely made our day and had the whole party dancing until we could barely stand . Well done to you all and many thanks . I can’t recommend you highly enough ."
