"Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio / 16/07/2021 / Cecilia and Johny’s Wedding Mike and the Black Velvet Band played at our wedding and put together a fantastic set. They had very thoughtfully come up with some more Covid secure dances to cater for people wishing to stay in their respective bubbles but managed to maintain the energy and enthusiasm throughout. The music was brilliant and the calling was the best that I’ve seen at a ceilidh (a difficult skill to perfect!). We did 6 or 7 dances and the band very considerately asked how we (my wife and I) would like to lead the dances to ensure plenty of people engaged but we had no concerns as everyone joined in. All of our guests were delighted and we can’t thank the band for stepping in at relatively short notice, we had a brilliant time."

"We booked Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio for a sixtieth birthday party. Very much a family event, so all ages including children, who particularly enjoyed it, although everyone had a really great time. One of the parents told me that her little one has decided that a ceilidh is the very best kind of birthday party, so the bar was set high for all future birthdays there! A few people knew the dances already, but most didn’t, and our caller guided us through each dance so that everyone could join in the fun! The atmosphere was lovely, and the musicians were impressive, plus really lovely people who were accommodating, helpful and great fun. I would definitely recommend them; they were fantastic, and the whole evening was an absolute joy. The only thing now is to find a good reason to do it all again!"

"I should say how much I enjoyed the ceilidh and your superb playing. It was a delight to both listen and dance to. You all have an extraordinary ability to drive the music whilst retaining an intricate coherence to it all – quite remarkable when you play without drums. And I know I'm not alone in enjoying the music; a number of friends made a point of saying how much they enjoyed it."

"Thank you so much for playing at our wedding - you were fantastic and we had a wonderful time dancing with our guests! The evening was perfect, everything we had wished for. Everyone said how much they enjoyed it and you could really tell from all the laughing and smiling that the guests were having a great time. Some people had never been to a ceilidh before and I think they are now hooked! The music was wonderful and we really appreciated you playing some French folk dances for the French side of the family. From the moment we got in touch with you we knew you were the right band choice, as you were so friendly and professional. You went out of your way to make sure the evening went as planned. Thank you especially for letting us steal you away from your set-up to play us a few maypole tunes and for staying and helping us with the after ceilidh disco. Wishing you lots of good luck in the future and if we ever plan another ceilidh we know who to call!"

"OMG where to begin?!? What an amazing experience we had, from our initial contact with the group/owner/lead singer, Lilac, all the way through to our wedding day. Before booking we had a fair amount of correspondence, information bouncing backwards and forwards with my specific questions to their professional opinions and information. I had a vision which I presented and it was clear from the start we could trust them to produce exactly what was wanted. Once we confirmed our booking, over the 12 months before our wedding, there were zoom chats and even a dinner date for us all to meet and put together our tailored set list arrangements, for both solo acoustic sets and country band sets (which we had booked a 5 piece but due to some changes in circumstances ended up with an 8 piece 🫶🏼👌🏼) Their professionalism is 2nd to none and faultless. On the big day, they arrived early, with their engineer not only managing to get a whole lot of equipment set up and maintained for 2 different on site locations but also spending time documenting the highlights.. the work that goes on behind the scenes is paramount and knowing the basics I was highly impressed. Now, for the performances.. obviously this is what everyone soaks in the most! Perfection is in the eye of the beholder and as I have no doubt, the band will confirm this, my requirement of this is relentless (the musical element to the day was almost as important to me as the day itself) and I can hand on heart express how I felt their performances were exactly the level of perfection I envisioned. I'm not the crying kind, I held back tears at the ceremony but Lilac managed to break me during her solo acoustic performances twice! Upon the band starting to play for our bride and groom enterance to the marquee we were compelled to jump straight onto the dance floor and we were both encapsulated by a stunning performance. Not being one to usually be found on the dancefloor too long I felt the lack of need to leave for the entire 1st set. I remember a conversation with Lilac about being able to get all the guests dancing and my stating I'll put every effort into ensuring that dancefloor was filled. Well, within the 1st minute we went from Mr & Mrs alone on the floor to having the room filled, although my assertiveness instigated this, it was the band that kept them all there from start to finish. What a wonderful wedding we had and what an epic musical experience everyone had! We've had nothing but high praise from all our guests and my only response is "weren't they amazing?!" Finally, on a personal level. These guys are absolutely as lovely as they are professional. Their genuine passion for what they do and their personalities shine through not only their performances with smiles, energy and interactions but just in conversation before and afterwards. Outstanding work, beautiful people. We love you, we loved what you did for us and appreciate each of you for being you and being a major piece of the best day of both our lives 🫶🏼👌🏼🤗 Thankyou!!!! Oh, and they can even provide a videographer and other services if required.. just another quick plug for you. Yee Hawww 🤠🥳🎶🔊❤️"

"The band were fantastic for our wedding entertainment. The ceilidh was a big hit and got everyone on the dance floor and together as we’d hoped. Such a great range of cover songs too which made our day, with a finale that was truly memorable! Very professional throughout and a great range of musicians. Would highly recommend!"
