"Hi Fiddlestix, Just wanted to thank you and your band very much for a most successful Macmillan Cancer Support Barn Dance event last night. Your band and your caller Geoff kept everyone fully involved all night long and it was a very enjoyable evening in the knowledge that essential money was raised to help people and their families affected by cancer. £1300 was raised last night after all expenses and we feel that was a decent amount. "The band was great and they tailored the music to suit our group and encouraged people to join in. Lovely manner and professional. Very experienced caller and musicians. Enthusiastic comments and praise from all our guests. Several potential enquiries regarding bookings will hopefully follow. We couldn't have wished for a better way to celebrate our special anniversary. Every thanks to the Black Velvet Ceilidh Band. "

"I am still reelubg from the incredible performance by ABBA Sensationelle the girls came to perform at my Ultimate tribute show at the Minworth lodge. These ladies brought the house down with their spot on vocals and energetic stage prescence. They are one of these out there and their performance at my show was truly unforgettable...We have already booked them again 3 times in 2026. "

"We were really pleased that we had booked the Black Velvet band for a ceilidh at our daughter’s wedding at Old Down Manor. Before the event they spoke to our daughter and planned with her exactly what she would like from them, the type of music and how they would organise the evening so that she and her new husband could be ‘danced out’ at the end. On the day the band arrived in good time with all the appropriate equipment for the location. The performance was very professional, the music great and they got all the guests dancing along. The caller’s instructions were clear. So overall we were very happy and would definitely recommend them."

"Dear Fiddlestix Just a little note to say thank you for all the music-making on Saturday – I have had some lovely feedback and people really enjoyed themselves. I was a bit worried that some of my guests would run for the hills, once they realised that they were in for Scottish country dancing, but actually they had a ball, as did I. You did a great job! "Hi Mike. I just wanted to say the biggest thank you to the band for Saturday. They were absolutely brilliant. Sue was such a great caller. She made the dancing just the right level, so even the youngest children could join in. It was wonderful to see families all having fun together. Many many thanks, Emma"

"You made our wedding reception utterly wonderful and so many of our guests have said how much they enjoyed the evening and the music. My 93 year old grandmother refused to leave until the end and her feet were tapping all evening....she even joined in the last dance and that has to be credit to you. One table of guests had never been to a ceilidh before and said how much fun it was. "

"We had a really great evening. The musicians were very friendly and accommodating. When some of our guests were late arriving because of the dreaded road closure and subsequent diversions, they adapted their sets to suit our timings and many non-dancers were encouraged to get up and shake a leg. Everyone said how much they enjoyed themselves and we would certainly recommend and use them again."
