Review Centre: Barn Dance Bands

"We have booked Black Velvet Band for our Wedding in Devon on 20th May. We were delighted to find out from Jennie that they were playing at The Water Poet in Spitalfields on St Patricks Night. Being from London, this was perfect. We arrived to a heaving pub with great Irish tunes belting out the door. The pub was packed and everyone was Irish on Friday. Black Velvet Irish Band played everything from The Wild Rover to some traditional reels and jigs. The were excellent and we cannot wait to have them play on our special day. We met with the lads after who were all so friendly and welcoming. I’ve been in a quite a few pubs on St Patrick’s Day but I’ve never experienced an atmosphere like that. The crowd were singing and dancing, Black Velvet your were fantastic, we cant wait to see you guys on 20th May 2017. Niamh Ivey"

"We had Mike and Dave at our wedding celebrations and they were fantastic - especially with it being the hottest day of the year! They arrived with plenty of time to setup, were accommodating to some last minute timing changes and left everything clean and tidy afterwards. The music was great and they are both very talented musicians. The volume level was good for the hall we were in, not being too loud inside but guests out in the garden could hear them perfectly too. We've had lots of positive feedback from guests who attended about them and how good they were."

"Hi Michael, We just wanted to drop you a quick email before we are off on honeymoon to say thank you for playing last night. The music and calling were truly excellent, and so many of our guests have told us how much they enjoyed the ceilidh - the fitness test component included..... "Mike and Jon pitched the performance perfectly for the Fleur de Lis Retirement Home’s garden party in Romsey. The American Country songs created just the right atmosphere to establish the Wild West theme. Everyone loved it – they joined in all the songs! Several residents have sent me messages to say how much they enjoyed the event. We were delighted with the performance and thoroughly recommend the band."

"Dear Mike, Jason and Terry (in no particular order) Thank you so much for your part in a lovely evening. I realise now what a creative act a barn dance is, requiring co-operation (co-ercion??!) (gently done!!) from all sorts of assorted people. We had a fabulous time, and I shall treasure the looks of thorough enjoyment on each of the dancers’ faces. "

"Black Velvet Band Irish Duo yet again provided fantastic music at our Christmas party. The duo are so flexible and helpful - this year they played quite a few Scottish reels etc for our Highland Themed Party which was perfect. The vibe was also just right and got lots of people up and dancing. It was a key contribution to the overall atmosphere. Please thank them for me. I highly recommend them! "
