"Widely regarded as one of Wales’ foremost traditional bands, since their formation in 1996, Allan Yn Y Fan have taken Welsh traditional music all over the world. Wednesday 28th March, however, saw the band performing closer to home with a gig at one of their favourite venues, Blackwood Miner’s Institute. The evening took the format of two halves with an interval and this six piece band entertained us with a selection of traditional Welsh songs and tunes interspersed with original compositions, mainly from the pen of founder member Kate Strudwick but also with contributions from Chris Jones and Alan Cooper. All the music was taken from across the band’s 22 year career and took us on a journey from the Festival Interceltique at L’Orient to sparsely attended performances in Ireland before returning to Wales across a stormy Irish Sea, stopping to remember Kate’s former landlady and her cat along, the way. The songs were mainly entrusted to Catrin O’Neill who, since joining the band in 2015, has taken on the role of lead vocalist and her vocal style adds a haunting quality to such songs as Dafydd Y Garreg Wen and Lisa Lân, both of which take the passing of a loved one as their subject matter, Catrin’s versatility means she is equally at home singing about hopeful love, as in Ym Mhontypridd Mae’n Nghariad, or the celebratory staples of the Mari Lwyd in Pwnco and Canu Cwnsela or rousing songs of workers' rights, as in Gorthrwm Y Gweithiwr with its dire warning to the Victorian Ironmasters of Beaufort. This evening had all the ingredients needed to make a memorable performance, six talented performers who obviously enjoy performing together and transmitted that joy through their music to an appreciative audience, a quality venue with friendly staff and a crystal clear sound system ensuring that none of the music’s nuances were lost. It was a pleasure to attend this concert and I look forward to seeing Allan Yn Y Fan perform again in the not too distant future. "

"Hi Davie and the band, Now that the wedding is over and we are back from our honeymoon?, I just wanted to send you a massive thank you for the awesome night of dancing we had last weekend at our wedding at Lands of Loyal Hotel in Alyth. You have got to be the best ceilidh band I have ever heard!! The rocky and fast paced sets were just unreal to dance to and all our Irish guests loved learning how to ceilidh dance. Such an amazing night and we really cannot thank you enough! I have dropped Chloe at Freak music a wee email to say how fantastic you were and asked if she can put the review up on their website. "Hi Michael, We just wanted to drop you a quick email before we are off on honeymoon to say thank you for playing last night. The music and calling were truly excellent, and so many of our guests have told us how much they enjoyed the ceilidh - the fitness test component included..... We had a fantastic night and it was lovely to see everyone getting involved and having so much fun. Even Mr Perfect."

"The Shooglers showed up and showed out for our wedding!! Everyone was raving about how fun the ceilidh was and my father in law is still talking about how the band was his favorite part of the day. Thank you to all the members of The Shooglers for an epic ceilidh party and being so patient with a bunch of Americans who couldn’t understand your accents. "

"Well what can we say! They were absolutely fantastic, arrived on time with equipment set up ready for the evening. They sang lots of different songs from old to new keeping the ears of our guests entertained ready for more. was absolutely amazing such a talented band would love to have thwmat another event. The only down side was that the evening seemed to go to fast but as the saying goes time flys when your having fun. Would so love to see them again in the future absolutely fantastic performance what an amazing band."

"The band were AWESOME! Streets ahead of everyone else we considered. Michael was a lovely guy who really kept the atmosphere rocking - not that we needed much encouragement - and the whole celebration was utterly magical. "Boots & Buckles were amazing, I seriously couldn't fault them. Communication was great in the lead up to the event and on the day their performance was outstanding. I received lots of positive feedback from everyone who attended the event about "how great the band was" and I would definitely recommend then for any Country and Western themed events. They managed to get people on their feet dancing and were extremely flexible in terms of timings, etc on the day. Thank you !"

"I was so happy to book Two Left Feet who were able to come to the rescue 1 week before my mums surprise 60th. The music MADE the party! If you’re in doubt about having live music, just go for it. Every single person joined in and danced the night away, everyone saying how much fun they had as having a ceilidh band doesn’t happen very often. It was super special, the band were very easy to communicate with and were happy to accommodate all my requests about making it a surprise and staying hidden from my mum! Thank you thank you! "
