Review Centre: Barn Dance Bands

"The Shooglers have played for us twice now and I can't wait to get them booked for next year! They have been a huge hit at both charity ceilidhs which we have organised, people attending telling us how great they thought they were. The band are so easy to work with, they are a friendly bunch and are very talented. Their music is fantastic, it's such a relief knowing that if anything else goes wrong on the night the music will be first class. They have banter with the guests and call dances brilliantly. They are definitely going to be the first people I get in touch with when I start organising next year's ceilidh. I'd recommend them to everyone, I've already passed on contact details to several people who loved their sound. Thanks again boys, can't wait to work with you again soon! :) Thanks again for an awesome ceilidh! "

"Dear Helen, David and I don't know how to thank you and your colleagues enough for your absolutely brilliant contribution to our wedding reception. Everyone was raving about how great you were, and I can't count how many times I said, in response to how I found you; "The best ever result of days of google searching" I think that I told you this before, but I listened to so many clips of bands, and it took me about 30 seconds of listening to you to know that you were the right people for the wedding of two musicians, whose guest list was chock full of musicians! I have an absolutely hilarious video of my 7 year old niece going crazy to your music, which I would be happy to send along if you would like. She is officially your biggest fan, and loudly declared that evening "That music makes this the BEST WEDDING EVER!!!" Please could you pass along our admiration and gratitude to the rest of the band? "Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio – Amanda’s 60th Birthday Ceilidh – December 2025 Black Velvet Ceilidh Trio played at a ceilidh to celebrate my 60th birthday. It was actually the fourth time they have played at events for my family over the last ten years, and I’m hoping to have them again in future. It was a wonderful afternoon. The band’s music was cheery and infectious and soon got people dancing enthusiastically, including guests aged from five to 85 and those who had previously warned me that they wouldn’t be able to dance because of knee problems! Phil is a fantastic dance caller who makes ceilidh dancing easy and a pleasure even for those who have never done it before. We all really appreciated his clear instructions about each dance. This, together with Black Velvet’s expert musicianship made the ceilidh very enjoyable and huge fun. I can’t wait to do it again! Thanks so much."

"Mike and Jon pitched the performance perfectly for the Fleur de Lis Mike and Jon pitched the performance perfectly for the Fleur de Lis Retirement Home’s garden party in Romsey. The American Country songs created just the right atmosphere to establish the Wild West theme. Everyone loved it – they joined in all the songs! Several residents have sent me messages to say how much they enjoyed the event. We were delighted with the performance and thoroughly recommend the band. "

"It is an absolute pleasure to recommend Country Chicks UK, who performed at our private members’ "Uptown Hoedown" on June 27, 2026. Working with Sarah and her talented group was a seamless, delightful experience from start to finish. Arriving promptly at 4:30 PM for setup and sound check, the band brought infectious energy to The Odney Club gardens. They played a captivating range of country hits that perfectly fit our theme, provided playlists between sets, and even taught our members line dancing. Member feedback was extraordinary, with many calling it the highlight of the summer season. Country Chicks UK are professional, talented, and completely reliable. I highly recommend them for any event and look forward to welcoming them back."
