Review Centre: Barn Dance Bands

"We hired Charlotte for my Mum's 80th birthday party barn dance in Worthing on Saturday. It was a great evening with live music from Charlotte and Richard (fiddle, banjo, accordion). Not everybody got up to dance but you'll always get that. For those that did we had a very entertaining evening with lots of laughter and my Mum loved it."

"What a fabulous night of fun, laughter and dancing (lots of dancing) F.O.B. Band gave us this weekend for a joint 60th birthday party. The music was superb and Ollie's calling had everyone up and dancing all evening. Highly recommended!"

"Hi Fiddlestix, Thanks again for the wonderful ceilidh you and your band put on for us last Saturday. I have written a review for you to use below. Warm regards Julie Fiddlestix played a mix of English, Irish and Scottish music at our wedding breakfast in December. Both the musicians and the caller were excellent and we all thoroughly enjoyed the ceilidh. Many of our guests took to the floor, some of whom had never participated in a dance before. When numbers dwindled at the end of the evening, the band switched to performing Elvis Presley songs which got some of our remaining guests up and dancing. People have told us how much they enjoyed the music. Thank you, Fiddlestix, for providing us with such fun. Julie"

"Mick and the boys really made the evening of our wedding. The music was brilliant and they tailored the calling and dances for a mixed crowd of ceilidh veterans to first timers. Friendly, funny and engaging, everyone had a great time and I wouldn’t hesitate in booking them again for any other function – thanks again for a great evening!!"

"We had a brilliant time! It was a very hot day and the band were very accommodating, adjusting the playing times and breaking up the dancing with songs. There were only 30 of us, but everyone danced and several people commented on the quality of the music. The band even played “Waltzing Matilda” for the Australian contingent, who all sang along! Thanks very much BVB for making my party so special."

"I booked Kellys Heroes to play at my 60th birthday party. You were amazing and everyone loved you. Everybody there was talking about how good you were, and they are still talking about it, even now. You were the main feature of the party which people remember! Of course, your excellent local reputation preceded you and that took some living up to - you did so admirably. I was worried that, with such a diverse group of guests, there would be awkward silences but Tony did a sterling job at getting people up on the dance floor and, once they started, they couldn’t stop. Quite a few of my friends commented that they forgot we were all hitting 60 and were dancing like young ‘uns. It says much for your music, though, that the real young ‘uns also joined in and it was a treat to see that younger Irish generation (because about 2/3 of the party were Irish) showing off their traditional dance skills to your music. Your song and tune selection was really excellent. Just the right balance, and lovely to have some songs which were favourites (Billy was completely made up with Carrickfergus) and others which were original compositions. Of course, the standard was – well – absolutely professional. It must be great to have such universal appeal. I can honestly say that your music hit the mark with both young and old; English and Irish – and even the small Greek contingent got up and learned a few dance moves! Your CD is being well-played on Corfu and in Athens now! I noticed a good few of the staff from the bar downstairs snuck in for a sneaky look too. You really made the evening for me and do, please, feel free to use this if you need a testimonial. Looking forward to seeing you soon at one of your gigs. With my very best wishes and thanks again. "​We booked Juniper for a Burns Night Event at our restaurant. Juniper were so easy going and provided exactly what we wanted & more! The back ground music as diners arrived was perfect and created a great atmosphere. The second set was amazing and got everyone on their feet to finish off a superb evening. We really wouldn’t hesitate recommending these guys & can’t wait to have them back"

" I booked Rejigged for a Retirement Party and everything was arranged very efficiently. The band were very flexible and fitted in with supper and speeches etc. The music was really great it’s just a shame that people were a bit slow in joining in.
