Review Centre: Folk Groups

"OMG where to begin?!? What an amazing experience we had, from our initial contact with the group/owner/lead singer, Lilac, all the way through to our wedding day. Before booking we had a fair amount of correspondence, information bouncing backwards and forwards with my specific questions to their professional opinions and information. I had a vision which I presented and it was clear from the start we could trust them to produce exactly what was wanted. Once we confirmed our booking, over the 12 months before our wedding, there were zoom chats and even a dinner date for us all to meet and put together our tailored set list arrangements, for both solo acoustic sets and country band sets (which we had booked a 5 piece but due to some changes in circumstances ended up with an 8 piece 🫶🏼👌🏼) Their professionalism is 2nd to none and faultless. On the big day, they arrived early, with their engineer not only managing to get a whole lot of equipment set up and maintained for 2 different on site locations but also spending time documenting the highlights.. the work that goes on behind the scenes is paramount and knowing the basics I was highly impressed. Now, for the performances.. obviously this is what everyone soaks in the most! Perfection is in the eye of the beholder and as I have no doubt, the band will confirm this, my requirement of this is relentless (the musical element to the day was almost as important to me as the day itself) and I can hand on heart express how I felt their performances were exactly the level of perfection I envisioned. I'm not the crying kind, I held back tears at the ceremony but Lilac managed to break me during her solo acoustic performances twice! Upon the band starting to play for our bride and groom enterance to the marquee we were compelled to jump straight onto the dance floor and we were both encapsulated by a stunning performance. Not being one to usually be found on the dancefloor too long I felt the lack of need to leave for the entire 1st set. I remember a conversation with Lilac about being able to get all the guests dancing and my stating I'll put every effort into ensuring that dancefloor was filled. Well, within the 1st minute we went from Mr & Mrs alone on the floor to having the room filled, although my assertiveness instigated this, it was the band that kept them all there from start to finish. What a wonderful wedding we had and what an epic musical experience everyone had! We've had nothing but high praise from all our guests and my only response is "weren't they amazing?!" Finally, on a personal level. These guys are absolutely as lovely as they are professional. Their genuine passion for what they do and their personalities shine through not only their performances with smiles, energy and interactions but just in conversation before and afterwards. Outstanding work, beautiful people. We love you, we loved what you did for us and appreciate each of you for being you and being a major piece of the best day of both our lives 🫶🏼👌🏼🤗 Thankyou!!!! "I would give 6/5 if Google allowed! Everything was top-notch: communication and co-ordination in the run-up to the wedding, the music, the caller's instructions to the guests during the dance. The barn dancing went down a treat with the guests and was the highlight of the night! Big thanks to Murphy's Lore!"

"All ages were able to take part" "Wraggle Taggle Ceilidh Band performed at The Walker Ground in Southgate for a Charity Fundraiser and the night was a great success (Saturday 11th March 2023 Southgate Cricket, Hockey & Squash Rackets Club, 175 Waterfall Road, Southgate, London, N14 7JZ) The caller was fab and engaged with the crowd to get everyone up and dancing. People of all ages were able to take part and were delighted with the live music. There was great communication with Mick before, during and after the event itself. We would highly recommend Wraggle Taggle Ceilidh Band and look forward to having them at events at The Walker Ground in future...." "Well, we went along to the Clutha benefit gig in The Classic Grand, there were such a choice of great bands to choose from on 2 floors, The Mrs & myself were downstairs as it was mostly rock bands and we had a seat, so the bands changed again & again until I heard the next band was a Ceilidh band, quite a few were looking around sort of laughing as if how’s this gonna fit in with the night, so there's now quite a few people sitting down waiting, so on comes as expected the usual accordion,fiddle,drummer & guitarist set up, and then it began, the accordion started then in came the fiddle then this electric rock guitar and ass kicking rock drum beat, and low and behold before you know it everybody's on their feet standing poking their heads up and down to see who the hell was making this amazingly blended sound of rock & Scottish folk, the accordion player’s fingers were impossible to track as they rolled up and down the board, and the fiddle was just about glowing to match, topped off with a great guitar and drums, with bits of Pink Floyd through to Miley Cyrus flung in, hard to believe but true, and all served up for your ears to savour at 100 mph, the whole place became electric, it was amazing to listen to and stunning to watch, I can’t say enough how much we enjoyed this band, We got talking to David (the accordion player) and his family afterwards and found him such a laugh & such a nice family, highlight of the night, so thanks to The Shooglers your time & talent is very well spent and it shows, cheers. "

"John, as part of a trio, performed at my wife's 40th. After watching a few youtube videos before booking him I was expecting a very accomplished singer/musician he didn't disappoint! What I hadn't expected was for him to be so entertaining and engaging on and off the stage. He's a natural performer and makes it all seem so effortless; I've had endless positive comments about the music from friends and family that were at the party. He is unquestionably a step above your average wedding/birthday band. If you're considering booking John.. don't delay.. you wont be disappointed!"
