Review Centre: Folk Groups

"We hired Wraggle Tagle for our early Burns ceilidh (17th January 2026 Saturday St Giles' without Cripplegate Church, Fore St, Barbican, London EC2Y 8DA). They brought a PA which was great and played really nicely. The caller worked us hard but gave us breaks during which they played lovely songs.The caller used her radio mic to get in between us for instruction in good humour which was much appreciated. Please extend to the band and caller a big thank you for a great job yesterday. Great music, instruction and much humour. I'm keen to do Saturday 23 January 2027. Would you be available then? "WOW! Platinum Band... There are literally no words to describe how amazing and talented this band is. Claire is absolutely fantastic and so kind and helped us so much with organising our day and being so useful. Everyone at the wedding said how amazing the band at our wedding was- we wouldn't have wanted anyone else. Their performances had everyone dancing and smiling. They truy made our wedding for us. Claire also helped us with background music and kindly set up a lot earlier so that everything was ready for when it was time for dancing. They are so accommodating and friendly... would 11/10 times recommend these guys!!!"

"They were truly AWESOME! Everyone commented on how fabulous they were. We had a lot of non-ceilidh dancers, and they called the dances and got everyone on their feet and joining in. Even those who couldn't join in the dancing had a great time watching everyone give it a go-the atmosphere they created was fantastic! A brilliant selection of dances and speeds to give everyone a chance. Booking etc was super easy and they were so friendly and professional. Cannot recommend enough!!!!!"

"RoF played at our wedding at Fingask Castle on 19th August. From the moment we met the band they were friendly and approachable. We loved their twist of ceilidh music with modern tunes and they were great fun for us and our guests! Would more than recommend!"

You were so good at gauging when to play what, and getting people back on the dance floor over and over again! A lot of the guests had never danced a ceilidh (as it was obvious! ?) and you managed to keep everybody on track, well done! "

"Each year our section hold a rally. Each year we visit a different location alternating between the UK and Europe. It was my turn to organise a weeks rally in the UK, and I chose the Two Bridges Hotel near Princetown as our base. We needed some form of entertainment for our Gala Night. Our group are in the in main middle fifties and some over eighty so the last thing we need was a rock group. I had some opposition when I suggested a Folk group but I prevailed and have to say that tracking down a band was in the area was extremely difficult. Typing a search in Google for local folk groups resulted in names almost everywhere except in the West Country. Eventually I contacted Blue Jewel and Steve convinced me that they could adapt to our needs. Every single person enjoyed the groups performance, there were 62 people there and almost every single one said how much they enjoyed the group. As the organiser I was greatly impressed by the way they accommodated our requirements and we had a brilliant night. Thank you Blue Jewel Chris. "The Shooglers were real stars at our wedding in Lochgoilhead in October. They performed a perfect mix of ceilidh and rock covers, sometimes in the same dance! It really had everyone up on the dance floor for most of the evening. Afterwards everyone wanted to know where we'd got them from including the venue co-ordinator who sees bands every week. Most of all, they have a great sense of humour - they realise it's all about everyone having a great time. Thanks again guys, you were awesome. "

"Booked Josh and fiddle player for my husbands 50th as he loves Irish music. The lads were great, played lots of Irish songs and also lots of other famous songs to get everyone going. Would defintely recommend!"
