"Thank you all so much for playing for our son’s wedding -  we have received so many complements on your playing and Jill’s calling. Even people who did not want to take part in the dancing said that they so enjoyed watching and listening to the music. Basically you wore most people out and they definitely faded when the disco came on, but we soldiered on until midnight! "

"I meant to e-mail last week and say you and your band are bloody awesome! That was a total American thing to say, but honestly I am not just saying that you guys are great! My husband loved it too – he loves Pink Floyd so when you were singing The Wall through the ceilidh music it was brilliant. I totally love ceilidhs they’re great fun, and the current music at the end was really good too! I took a few of your cards so will defo be recommending you!! "

"Black Velvet Band Hoedown Trio / 7oaks TriClub Hoedown Barn Dance / November 2024 The Black Velvet Hoedown Trio were superb on Saturday 16th November for our annual 7Oaks TriClub dinner dance. We had 50 members turn up at the Chipstead Sailing Club Clubhouse, and I can tell you that as soon as Mike and his band started playing the first set, everyone got up to dance! There were high levels of energy in the room and the Hoedown Trio rose to the occasion spectacularly, matching our enthusiasm and giving us little anecdotes on the history of the dance with instructions as we cooled down and grabbed a different partner. The band were duly fed and watered with a delicious Greek buffet, and by special request they played a Greek dance to thank the chefs. I think Black Velvet were stunned with the energy levels and full dance floor - and there was no slacking from music or dancing. By the end of the second set we were all perspiring in a good way!!!! There have been calls from many members to make this an annual event, so rest assured we will re-book the chaps for a rematch! A fantastic evening had by all. Many thanks to Mike and the band. "

"What a fabulous night of fun, laughter and dancing (lots of dancing) F.O.B. Band gave us this weekend for a joint 60th birthday party. The music was superb and Ollie's calling had everyone up and dancing all evening. Highly recommended!"

"Steve and the band were excellent on the night and the caller got everybody up and dancing and was part of the dance rather than just shouting instructions from the sidelines. Great fun was had by all! They even hepled out with playing our first dance track through their PA system when we could not get tyhe hotel one to connect. Would recommend this band. "

"Blue Jewel Ceilidh Band have been playing at our annual barn dance for the last few years and I can't recommend them highly enough. We are a befriending service providing support and activities for the over 50s to promote social inclusion and independent living. As part of our Active Steps programme which offers weekly dance classes across Plymouth, we organise one-off events including ceilidhs. Blue Jewel always bring out the best in our participants with their great music and friendly, approachable manner - it is the highlight of our year! "

"Thank you Blue Jewel! We had had a fantastic wedding day which culminated in a ceilidh, not everyone's choice of course - until they experience the Blue Jewel phenomenon! You had to be very determined to NOT dance to avoid this. Kip is a brilliant caller - patient and knowledgeable. On the odd occasion when everyone was too tired to dance the band just played on anyway, the music was simply delightful in its own right. We are very lucky to have such a talented band in the west country, I would not hesitate to use these guys again- if you have an event coming up book them before they become world famous and never play locally again! "Lilac and the band were the perfect choice for my daughter's Bat Mitzvah party. She was a pleasure to work with and was happy to tailor a set to suit our needs. The band learned a number of songs especially for us, which was amazing. They have excellent equipment that ensured they were able to tailor the sound to the space perfectly - not too loud, not too quiet. Lilac and co are great performers and got everyone dancing, including some usually-sulky teenagers. They made our daughter feel special and she had an amazing time. I can't recommend them highly enough."
