Review Centre: Barn Dance Bands

"Hello Fiddlestix, We are just away on holiday but wanted to thank you, the band and your fabulous caller for getting our daughter’s wedding reception off to such a great start! We knew we had a few guests who would definitely get up and take part, but to have so many joining in the fun and to hear all of the glowing compliments afterwards was great! The cheesy disco afterwards was good fun too, but I think partly that was down to the fact everyone had had such a great laugh with their attempts at barn dancing and were keen to stay on the dance floor! "Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio – Angela’a Son’s Wedding – August 2025 Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio were brilliant at our son’s wedding. They arrived promptly, set up without any fuss, played two brilliant sets , were very generous with their time and got everyone dancing. Mike called the dances clearly and gave people chance to have a quick practice. Mike encouraged everyone and the dance floor never emptied. The band really helped make the wedding very special."

"Absolutely breathtaking! Just couldn't stop saying 'wow'! So professional with a quirky twist. The music was extremely engaging right from the start and the dancing got everyone up on their feet. "We hired the Edinburgh Ceilidh Trio for our wedding and they were fantastic, we had 3 hours of playing and I don't think the dance floor was empty once. They were great at explaining the dances to the guests, allowing them to quickly learn the dances and have a go. Many of the guests - most of which had never done a ceilidh before - all reported how much fun they had. "

"The band set the tone for an evening where everyone, but everyone, joined in the dancing in our village hall. There was an enormous variety in the types of dances, no fuss about who was meant to be standing on the right or left of their partner and lots of patience when dancers didn't initially get the hang of where to move. And probably best of all they were open to requests for dances outside their normal repertoire. A good night was had by all. Thanks!"

"Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio – Georgina’s Wedding Ceilidh – July 2025 The band were a great edition to our wedding party event. They arrived on time and had no issues setting up independently with minimal direction from us as hosts. They gave good directions in terms of getting us started with a first dance, and set the tone for the two sets they played perfectly – giving great instructions to the mostly complete novice crowd present, with a good dose of humour alongside. Everyone there from small children through to retirees was able to participate. I wouldn’t hesitate to book them again for a future event, or to recommend them to others."
