"Just a quick note to thank you and your band for an absolutely outstanding evening last Saturday at our annual Burns Supper. I have every admiration for you and how well you managed to shepherd a herd of cats around the dance floor and the fact that the dance floor was still packed until the finish was testament to your professionalism. "Black Velvet Band Hoedown Trio / 7oaks TriClub Hoedown Barn Dance / November 2024 The Black Velvet Hoedown Trio were superb on Saturday 16th November for our annual 7Oaks TriClub dinner dance. We had 50 members turn up at the Chipstead Sailing Club Clubhouse, and I can tell you that as soon as Mike and his band started playing the first set, everyone got up to dance! There were high levels of energy in the room and the Hoedown Trio rose to the occasion spectacularly, matching our enthusiasm and giving us little anecdotes on the history of the dance with instructions as we cooled down and grabbed a different partner. The band were duly fed and watered with a delicious Greek buffet, and by special request they played a Greek dance to thank the chefs. I think Black Velvet were stunned with the energy levels and full dance floor - and there was no slacking from music or dancing. By the end of the second set we were all perspiring in a good way!!!! There have been calls from many members to make this an annual event, so rest assured we will re-book the chaps for a rematch! A fantastic evening had by all. Many thanks to Mike and the band. "

"The band set the tone for an evening where everyone, but everyone, joined in the dancing in our village hall. There was an enormous variety in the types of dances, no fuss about who was meant to be standing on the right or left of their partner and lots of patience when dancers didn't initially get the hang of where to move. And probably best of all they were open to requests for dances outside their normal repertoire. A good night was had by all. Thanks!"

"I think you saw for yourself that we had the most magical of days last Saturday at Gate Street Barn! Your playing for the ceremony set the scene beautifully and we have had so many lovely comments from our guests, musicians and non-musicians alike. It was all very moving. It was a shame the day was a bit soggy which meant we all had to resort to the Pheasantry for the drinks and canapés but we did appreciate everything you did against all the odds! We think we were so lucky that you were available to contribute to our special day. Thank you."

"Yes, she does indeed sing. We had a fabulous night with Ruby. So lovely to see her again. Ruby has a blow your socks off voice and sang songs from all years. Many thanks to Paul for the sound too. It was Dave’s birthday tonight and Ruby made it really special for him. Lots of folks up dancing and great audience interaction. Everyone had a blast, so thank you, both, and see soon."

"Wow! look no further in your search for a band! Absolute played an acoustic set during the day and then 2 full band sets in the evening of our wedding on 7/8/21. All of which were incredible! They were so adaptive when we ended up with the first dance at the end of the first set and really felt the vibe of the wedding and selected a great range of songs to suit!! The dancefloor was full all evening which says it all. Everyone commented on how good they were. AMAZING! Book them now!! James and Amy, Wedding at Top Farm in Norfolk – 7th August 2021 "

"Hi Fiddlestix, Thanks again for the wonderful ceilidh you and your band put on for us last Saturday. I have written a review for you to use below. Warm regards Julie Fiddlestix played a mix of English, Irish and Scottish music at our wedding breakfast in December. Both the musicians and the caller were excellent and we all thoroughly enjoyed the ceilidh. Many of our guests took to the floor, some of whom had never participated in a dance before. When numbers dwindled at the end of the evening, the band switched to performing Elvis Presley songs which got some of our remaining guests up and dancing. People have told us how much they enjoyed the music. Thank you, Fiddlestix, for providing us with such fun. Julie"

"Great band. We booked them for my wedding. Unfortunately, we were behind schedule but the band were really professional and understanding! And also excellent at managing a very drunk crowd to have a great time when the ceilidh began!"
