"Hi Aly, Richard and I wanted to say thank you very much to you and the band for an excellent wedding ceilidh on Saturday evening. We had an absolutely wonderful evening and a large part of that was thanks to yourselves for providing such a fantastic ceilidh. The calling was great and allowed everyone to get involved even if they had never been to a ceilidh before. The music was second to none & made for a wonderful atmosphere all night. "Second time we have heard Blue jewel - the first at their recent gig in the Stoke Gabriel Village hall just last Saturday they put on a Ceilidh Dance for our wedding reception. Really great on both occasions - super caller for our dance - just right for the many who had never done folk dancing and on both occasions their enthusiasm and light touch really made for a great evening. Would recommend for any occasion "

"For 13 years I have coordinated highly successful ceilidh dances in Bishopbriggs High School and now the new Bishopbriggs Academy. These Christmas dances are the culmination of 3 weeks of social dance with all year groups and it it a priority of mine that we have live music to create an upbeat atmosphere. I consider it part of my job to ensure these traditional dances are taught in school in a way pupils will enjoy and will perpetuate. This year I secured the services of The Shooglers for our S5/6 dance. The evening was a fantastic success and enjoyed immensely by pupils and staff alike. The band worked a perfect blend of traditional Scottish dance tunes with contemporary music the pupils are familiar with, which heightened their participation in – and positive attitude to – “social dancing”. I have already asked the band to perform at next year’s S5/6 dance in the school. I know it will be a special occasion. I recommend The Shooglers unreservedly to anyone hosting school dances, weddings or any kind of function. "

"We honestly can't thank Oscar and Barney enough for everything they did to help make my husbands 40th an incredible night. They set the atmosphere off perfectly playing a range of great music that got the crowd going. They are absolute naturals and great entertainers. Not only is their music on point, and their talents endless, but they are so lovely with it, and really engaged with the room and played all the right things they felt people wanted to hear. From the outset the communication was clear, concise and friendly, as well as being really quick to respond. Thank you both for some great memories, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will definitely hire you again! "

"I cannot thank you enough for you and your band at my mums birthday party, it really was the best night we have had in ages. The effort by all of you far exceeded any expectation I had, never lone anyone else in the room. You didn’t just provide a band for the night, you all provided the entertainment, fun factor, the laughing (the workout!) and provided exactly and way more then I ever expected. The music was wonderful, jolly, filled gaps , catered to everyone’s ears from ages 2 - 80+ years! You made it easy to follow the dance steps and fun for absolutely everyone, whether they were dancing or just listening to the music. I absolutely wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you to anyone or use you all again in a heartbeat. So thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you for providing one element that made the whole night. "The band was fantastic to work with, very helpful in the run up to the wedding with sending us pre recordings of our first dance song and organising the songs to be played on the night with us. They were also very flexible about having part ceilidh and part covers during the evening which was perfect! Lilac’s voice is incredible! The ceilidh went very well and all the guests enjoyed themselves swinging each other around! Very friendly and professional team - would definitely highly recommend to others!"

" We hired the Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio for a party, and we could not have been happier with their performance. The band’s admin team reached out prior to the event to make arrangements, and communication was maintained throughout. Set up was quick and efficient in the background of our event, and before we knew it, we were forming lines for our first Ceilidh. It was a mixed group in terms of experience, but Phil delivered clear instructions prior to each dance, and everyone quickly picked it up. The trio are all exceptionally skilled musicians, and the music throughout the dancing was fantastic. We booked two hours of dancing and found that to be the perfect amount of time post-dinner. Black Velvet Band created a fun and lively atmosphere at our event and the Ceilidh dancing was enjoyed by all. We will definitely be in contact with the band for future events and would recommend them to all."

"Much impressed. A highly entertaining mix of covers given an interesting twist, and what I especially like best, some brilliant, catchy and well-structured original songs. Elaine and Martin are both great performers and always leave you wishing the 'time' bell was that bit later and they were able to squeeze in another song or three."
