"Patrick was absolutely brilliant the music was spot on,he was there when he said,everyone commented on how fantastic he was.lovely man couldn’t have gone better,we were so pleased we booked him & if we ever need a piper we’d book again without any hesitation."

"The ceilidh was all amazing, couldn’t fault it. The caller worked really hard to make sure everyone at least sort of had a clue what they were doing, and adapted it for when there were too many couples and not enough space! Only complaint is that he almost killed me making me do Strip the Willow line twice with my very enthusiastic husband!! Thanks for everything 😊"

"Patrick stepped in last minute to play at our wedding on 9th July 2016 and was absolutely incredible. Exceptionally talented, professional and a true gent. He even donned a cape to play outside as our guests arrived in the pouring rain. I would highly recommend Patrick to anyone for any occasion!"

"The guys in the band were absolutely amazing, they were brilliant in the planning stages and communicating with them was really easy and then on the night they were really flexible with any changes that we needed to make to timings. They were just wonderful."

"A great day, made even better by the efforts and skills of It's No' Reel. We all loved the jigs, reels and much needed help to get the dances right. Tom and the band went that extra yard to help with the first dance and farewell dance. Much appreciated and highly recommended."

"Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio – Vincent McLaughlin’s Birthday Ceilidh – November 2025 We had a lovely evening which was made possible by the brilliance of the Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio. Everyone thought their musicianship was excellent and the caller was very good at helping get people dancing. From young to old everyone had a great evening."

The music was fantastic, and I felt the calling gave us just the right amount of detail without holding back those who were itching to get on with the dancing. "I just wanted to say a huge thank you for playing at our event yesterday. We’ve had some fantastic feedback from the scholars and they all seemed to have a great time learning the different dances, and I think this was a very memorable way to round off the day for them. "I booked this band for my daughter's wedding. They were approachable and professional, and many of our guests who had not previously attended a ceilidh highlighted how much they enjoyed the experience, also commenting on how the members of the band were happy to talk and answer questions from guests that approached them. I would highly recommend The Northern Reel Collective and I thank them once again for providing their services for what was a very special and memorable day."

"Much impressed. A highly entertaining mix of covers given an interesting twist, and what I especially like best, some brilliant, catchy and well-structured original songs. Elaine and Martin are both great performers and always leave you wishing the 'time' bell was that bit later and they were able to squeeze in another song or three."
