"We are so grateful to Black Velvet Ceilidh Band for their last minute flexibility in playing for our wedding! We moved the wedding forward by a month to beat the lockdown and the band not only made themselves available on the new date, but also changed the style of music with just 3 days notice! Firstly their contactability and organisation was brilliant, making the booking and discussions with them hassle-free. Ceilidh would no longer have been appropriate, so the guys played a mix of Irish songs and jigs and reels. The music they provided was fantastic, creating the most beautiful atmosphere for the milling around and photo time between ceremony and reception. They were inconspicuous but added so much. Would definitely recommend them (and their versatility!) for any event.’"

"We booked The Irish Violinist to perform for a birthday celebration at Carlitos on the 5th Sep 24 while she was in North Cyprus over the summer, we found her easy and professional to deal with and was set-up and ready before we even turned up. She even learnt 2 new songs especially for the birthday girl. The music and vocals were excellent and she managed to get virtually everyone up to dance even though the audience was a fairly mixed age group (20 - 80). The choice of songs and music meant there was something for everyone and a good time was had by all. Will definitely book her again if she ever returns to Cyprus. 😏"

"Just wanted to write to say sincere thanks to you, Gerry and Mike for making our Burns Night so special last night. You created a fantastic and fun atmosphere with your talented playing, vocals and humour while your efforts to organise our dances were much appreciated and enthusiastically received by all. Numerous members of our gathering mentioned to me how much they enjoyed the band. That was also backed up by how ready people were to get up to take part in the dances. You all made the night great fun and memorable and I look forward to seeing you all again at any function in the future including our next Burns Night Supper. "If you’re looking for a band who can come onstage to a marquee full of people quietly chatting and drinking and within minutes turn them into full-scale dance Machine with everybody in the place laughing and enjoying themselves, Then I think The Blaggers might be the act for you. Guests at our event (held to raise funds to prevent the destruction of a greenbelt zone) ranged from 20s to 60s, But all were captivated by the humour professionalism and generally good time emanating from rom the band. I am a professional filmmaker and have shot an l lot of promo videos for bands, from Euorope (yep, “the final countdown”) to Paul Young to AC/DC, and The Blaggers have that same charismatic quality that you see in all these massively successful bands. For a 3 piece they also a pack a monster sound, and over the course of three sets in one evening they played not only the Gay Gordons and other traditional stuff but also sex and drugs and rock’n’ roll and people are strange by the doors – not something you hear from average ceilidh band. I would highly recommend them if you’re having any kind of function we want to get the whole crowd involved. Oh and did I mention they’re very nice guys as well?"
