Review Centre: Celtic Groups & Ceilidh Bands

"I finally went along to see G Celtic Folk Rock Band when they played at the Old Printworks in Wakefield, close to where I live. I've known Chris for over thirty years. Knew he played fiddle in several different bands over the years and decided it was high time I made the effort! I wasn't disappointed. I was expecting straight Irish folk music but they have a blend of rock, folk, Irish, Yorkshire ballads. Great music, very tight sound with a nod and a wink to traditional Irish and not so traditional ballads. Great musicians who play well together. I intended staying for a couple of pints but stayed the entire evening. Great show boys! See you next time!"

""We were so impressed with It's No Reel. They delivered exactly what they said they would, with no hassle or worries. We couldn't belive they did a cover of the Game of Thrones theme tune. We asked on the off chance, but they did a beautiful version for our first dance. The guests absolutely loved the band. The music got everyone up dancing and seeing everyone so happy made it all worth it. Thank you"."

"Luke and the rest of the band were absolutely amazing and far exceeded our expectations and truly made the day extra special. Right from the music for the ceremony through to the first dances and the whole set...they were fantastic. They really looked like they were enjoying it too and their enthusiasm didn't falter even on the last song! All of our guests have commented on how good they were and how they made the night. The fact that the dance floor was always full speaks volumes and we would highly recommend Absolute for any event. A heartfelt thank you to Luke and all of the band for a truly amazing performance and for making our day extra special! "Kindred Spirit Duo are very entertaining and always guarantee to lift your spirits with their lively and unique style of folk/rock music. Elaine's guitar playing is excellent and she has a beautifully melodic voice. Martin's violin playing is exhilarating & energizing. Together they play some great cover versions and originals. They are guaranteed to get you up on your feet dancing and singing along to their tunes! "

"Thank you so much to Kelly’s Heroes for performing at our wedding evening reception. They were friendly and helpful from the beginning of the booking process right through to after the wedding. All our guests loved them, they provided a great lively atmosphere, and encouraged everyone to get involved. We had guests who go to ceilidhs regularly, and some who had never been to one before. The ceilidh was suitable for everyone, and everyone said how much fun they had. One of the band members taught us the moves to a first dance ceilidh, which we then demonstrated so that everyone could get involved. It was a slower dance and an ideal start with to get everyone involved and comfortable with the dancing. We went for the six person band with two song sets and a ceilidh, and this was ideal for an evening do. Kelly’s Heroes played a great range of tunes which everyone enjoyed tapping along to even if they weren’t ready for a dance yet! We really hope to see them play again in the near future, and we definitely recommend them for events. "

At very short notice you provided me with a bespoke programme of traditional Irish melodies played before the service. And you even learned a rare Irish tune to play at the end of the service that my aunt loved. All our family and friends in the congregation were so moved.
