"I shared my retirement party with Alison and agree with all of her positive comments. One friend said "I had a fantastic time and even managed with my two left feet to join in!" It was exactly what I wanted, an evening full of fun with everybody mingling and joining in together. I would highly recommend 'Blue Jewel' if you want a lively and energetic night. Anna"

"Thoroughly recommend Kip and the band, who made my birthday party such a fun evening. Great, easy communication from Kip when planning the event and on the night. The ceilidh was excellent, the calling nice and clear, and everyone had lots of fun, including the little ones—who Kip made sure could join in alongside everyone else. The fact that most people danced (nearly) every dance says how good the ceilidh was!"

"We were absolutely delighted. The whole thing was 'just right' and exactly what we were hoping for, including the type of dances and the calling. I have been receiving only positive feedback about it all. In fact our members are saying that it's the best Spring Celebration we've ever had. The non-dancers enjoyed it too as they were happy just listening to the music and watching the rest of us prancing about. "Paul was recommended to us by a former colleague. He provided a strong three-piece band to lead a ceilidh at our wedding reception. For an intergenerational group of mixed-ability dancers (including some with no ability) he was encouraging, clear in his verbal instructions, and the band uplifting and rhythmic. Just about everybody participated in the dancing at some point or another in the evening, and it was thoroughly enjoyable. Communication with Paul at all stages was straightforward and easy, and I would heartily recommend him and his ensemble should anybody be considering commissioning a ceilidh!"

"A big thank you to you and your fellow musicians in the It's No' Reel Scottish Ceilidh Band for making our retirement ceilidh a really memorable night. We were so pleased that we chose you, thanks really to your excellent website. You were thoroughly professional in your approach and from our first e-mail communications we got a sense of reassurance - even although we had never heard you play live. We were also pleased that we chose to have a second fiddle - that gave such a wonderful sound. A friend & I were putting finishing touches to things in the foyer while you were tuning up. You then started to play, we looked at each other, both gave a spontaneous 'thumbs up' and big smiles - we knew then that it was going to be a great night! We know from our friends and family that they all did have a great night and you were the most talked about part of the whole evening. I just wish we could do it all again so we could get more time to sit and listen to your music - it all went by in a bit of a blur for Greg & I. Apart from comments on your professionalism, the quality of your playing and the fact that you got the sound level just right - many people told us how much they enjoyed listening to what you played between the dance tunes. We did not need the disco playlist after all! I just hope that we are able to hear you play live again! Thanks once more to you all, you made our special night even more special. We would recommend you to anyone looking for a band for a special event - we could not have asked for more. Thank goodness you were free on the 27th!!"

"I’d just like to say a massive thank you to Dave, Mike and Gerry who form BM Ceilidh Band. This is the third event that we have booked them for and once again it was a massive success. They are always reliable and turn up on time. They set up the equipment with no fuss and are very adaptable to any type of event whether it be a Burns Night, a Ceilidh, a Wedding or a Birthday Party. Dave is incredibly patient at giving instructions to those who are novice dancers and even goes out onto the dance floor to help people with the dance steps. They cater for all abilities, young and old! Dave encourages people to get up to dance without being too intrusive and has a good sense of humour which makes people laugh and enjoy the night. Everyone who has been to our events where BM Ceilidh Band have played have thoroughly enjoyed themselves and have always been very positive about this band. I would certainly recommend the BM Ceilidh Band for any occasion and will be booking them again in the future."

"Rastrum played for our Burns Night at the University of York last week and it was one of the most successful student events we've had in months! It was the perfect setting for students to relax and have fun with old and new friends. The atmosphere was just buzzing and we've already had requests from students asking to do this again. The band were flexible with our venue change and were generous with the dances. The caller was very clear and warm which made the evening incredibly inclusive, especially as over 100 of our students had no idea what a ceilidh was at the start of the evening! So by popular demand I think we'll be getting a ceilidh booked in again very soon. And last but not least, the band play together perfectly and the tunes they chose were brilliant. "

"The first act I decided to see on the Friday were the Levy Folk Collective Ceilidh Band – for those unaware, a ceilidh is a traditional Scottish/Irish form of dancing played to traditional folk music. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but seeing the band get the crowd dancing was amazing – we were taught several dances and even this reviewer had a go at it! "

"We had Blue Jewel Ceilidh Band come to perform at our wedding last week and they were simply amazing. With a wide range of ages, abilities and attitudes amongst our guests Blue Jewel had everybody up and involved. Simple to understand instructions and catchy music meant that even our most reluctant guests wanted to get involved. The Ceilidh was our favourite part of the wedding, non stop laughing and even an enjoyable workout! Thank you so much for such a fantastic time. Now to think of the next event we can book you for!!"

"We had such good feedback about your performance! Everyone that came had a great time and that's definitely down to the superb music and also the very well-explained and inclusive calling. I honestly would not have believed that the majority of people dancing were new to ceilidh dancing from watching them, they all took to it really fast. We'd love it if you'd like to play again as the band was definitely the key to the success of the night."
