Review Centre: Celtic Groups & Ceilidh Bands

"Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio – International Student’s Ceilidh – July 2025 This is the second time we have booked the Black Velvet Band for our summer ceilidh, and it was such fun! The band ran two different dancing sessions for our international students and were very patient with explaining the dances and encouraging all students to participate. The music was brilliant and energetic, and all three band members were so kind and even paused for a photoshoot with the students. We are looking forward to next summer already. I’d absolutely recommend them for any event/party/celebration!"

"Hi Davie and the band, Now that the wedding is over and we are back from our honeymoon?, I just wanted to send you a massive thank you for the awesome night of dancing we had last weekend at our wedding at Lands of Loyal Hotel in Alyth. You have got to be the best ceilidh band I have ever heard!! The rocky and fast paced sets were just unreal to dance to and all our Irish guests loved learning how to ceilidh dance. Such an amazing night and we really cannot thank you enough! I have dropped Chloe at Freak music a wee email to say how fantastic you were and asked if she can put the review up on their website. "The Extonions played at our wedding in Somerset at the end of October and we cannot recommend them highly enough! They got everyone up on their feet and all our guests enjoyed dancing, clapping and tapping along! A very talented group of musicians and a must see! Thank you all so much."

"Just a short email to say many thanks for the music and dancing on Saturday at Childerley. I hope you could tell we all had a great time - were we any less competent than most people at the dancing?? As far as I know, only one person fell over, and we have to blame too much champagne for that. The whole event went fantastically well, and your part in it was much appreciated. Should the opportunity arise, we will book your group again, and recommend you if we know of anyone else having a “do” in your area. A lot of fun was had by both dancers and spectators. "

"Hi Tad, Sam, Colette and Louisa, We just wanted to say a huge thank you to you all for playing at our wedding last Sunday. We had such a brilliant day and you guys were a big part of the fun so thank you! We really appreciate you guys being able to play a bit earlier to accommodate our missing guitarist from the other band. Slightly stressful when you all arrived, sorry about that, but we got there in the end! I hope it worked out ok for you guys and you got plenty to eat and drink. We loved the Ceílí even though despite Louisa's brilliant instruction we were quite terrible at remembering what to do! Haha! Great fun though! "Thank you on behalf of the Parish Council for providing such a wonderful display of musicianship and fantastic choice of dances for our Late Summer Shindig. I was slightly nervous as we hadn’t done anything like this before but from the moment I heard the first strains of the fiddle I knew it would be fine. Who would be able to resist getting up to dance? Thank you too for sage advice as to the format and for being very much a part of the proceedings – it helped to know we were in good hands. The feedback was very encouraging and even those who were resolutely shy about dancing succumbed in the end. All down to the magic of the music. Thank you again!"

"Ceilidh With Us were amazing! We hired them for a post wedding celebration party and they were everything we wanted them to be. Super helpful in all the contact in the run up to the event and made us feel very relaxed. On the day they could not have been nicer and were super flexible/helpful. The caller for the Ceilidh was excellent - kept our guests very entertained! Thank you so much. I would 100% recommend you to anyone."
