Review Centre: Celtic Groups & Ceilidh Bands

"Blue Jewel Ceilidh Band were fantastic! From first point of contact by email, we found them to be helpful, flexible and professional. And then on the night they were all these things again and brilliant musicians with an excellent caller in Kip. He was so patient and fun. What we particularly appreciated was that Kip encouraged people to join in but didn't harangue or hassle anyone. He showed people what to do and ribbed some of the larger than life characters, which all added to the friendly warmth of the occasion. For anyone who isn't sure about having a ceilidh at a wedding, we would recommend this band as a brilliant introduction. My husband wasn't sure because he didn't want to feel forced to dance as he only usually does this when he's had several pints of beer. But we found Blue Jewel to be really encouraging, without being pushy and everyone joined in. It's really inclusive and a way of getting all ages up and dancing together. We were so pleased because our teenagers loved it too and no-one worried about being 'cool'. It's a very natural and traditional way of letting your hair down, mixing with everyone and having a good laugh. We would highly recommend this band."

"I would just like to thank you for the wonderful performance on Sat night at my Daughter’s naming ceremony. We all had a great time, and everybody commented on how great the band was. I never laughed or enjoyed a dance so much and would like to have another party, just to have you play again. "Amazing night with joyous music from the band from start to finish. Very accommodating for our age span of 8 years to 80 years! Plenty of caller participation to get us all going in fun dances which everyone said made them ache the next day! I heartily recommend them. Very friendly too! "

"The booking process was easy and flawless, I particularly liked being able to ring and talk to the agent. Dermot and his friend are very talented and made the wedding. They played Irish ballads through the meal and then burst into Irish jigs after the first dance. Dermot was flexible and worked well with our DJ. I will love to book him again at some point."

"What an amazing band! I’ve heard bands which are great at the Scottish ceilidh stuff but not very good at any other styles. I’ve heard bands which are great at pop/rock/country/indie covers but couldn’t play a ceilidh dance to save their lives. You guys are amazing! You can play all the Scottish ceilidh stuff AND make it rocky AND play all these other styles from pop to rock to country to whatever! Amazing! "

"I shared my retirement party with Alison and agree with all of her positive comments. One friend said "I had a fantastic time and even managed with my two left feet to join in!"
