"We hired Charlotte for my Mum's 80th birthday party barn dance in Worthing on Saturday. It was a great evening with live music from Charlotte and Richard (fiddle, banjo, accordion). Not everybody got up to dance but you'll always get that. For those that did we had a very entertaining evening with lots of laughter and my Mum loved it."

Everyone had so much fun, I'm definitely glad that we found a real Scottish Ceilidh band. Davie, what can I say, you guys are the most amazing team, the whole night was absolutely fantastic, couldn't have asked for anything better. Only problem was I ran out of shoogleness and had to get a breather and realised I was missing more while I was outside, what a bummer! "This band is suitable for any occasion, the music is fabulous, you cannot help but tap your feet and get up and dance, you feel the passion they put into their playing and it is truly excellent. Young and old will and do enjoy this music, absolutely loved them. "

"Loved having them churn out the reels at a private party. (13th September 2025 Saturday Chesterton Road, Cambridge CB4) Couldn’t have been happier with our choice. I think they read the audience well and our (in) capabilities at following instruction, which meant that we did enough right to keep the dances going and cause enough confusion for fun and hilarity to shine through. "We had The Big Moose Ceilidh Band play at our wedding recently and they were amazing! From start to finish communication was easy, Shuggie was really helpful when we were choosing our songs and on the night, the calling was solid, steps were easy to follow (even for those new to Ceilidh) and everyone was up and dancing! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Shuggie and his team of music playing bandits for any event. Thanks for such a fun night! "

"I cannot rate Lisa higher than 10/10, but I will do my best to justify why this should be possible. To begin with Lisa was a delight to deal with before, during and after the Wedding. Left largely to her own devices on the day, she was a complete professional and delivered all that we asked for and more. She was booked to perform to welcome guests to the Ceremony, during the Ceremony and throughout the Wedding Breakfast and did so exquisitely. We could not have made a more perfect choice of performer. Lisa is truly gifted, not only as an outstanding harpist, musician, songwriter and musical arranger, but she also has a tone to her voice that oozes pure quality, whatever the genre of music. Her performance of 'At Last' during the Ceremony was without question the best rendition of this much reproduced number that I have ever heard, including by Etta James. It was so good it caused a brief pause in everyone's joy for the married couple, as they went to sign the Register, whilst they registered the stunning sound, and this was captured perfectly on the video. Lisa performed a wide range of music equally well, including some traditional Irish music and other requests and was top class throughout. I lost count of how many guests complimented the beauty of her performances from start to finish and the fact that she set the perfect mood for a perfect day. It is certainly a sentiment that I echo loudly and I will forever remember and be grateful for the massive contribution that Lisa made to the happiest day of my daughter's life, and to one of my own."

"Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio were a fantastic edition to our Burns Night celebrations. From communicating before the event to the actual day, the group were professional and easy to reach. They also went above and beyond what their initial brief by ed by agreeing to toast the haggis – which was met with cheers - and taking suggestions from the crowd for different dances. By the end of the night they felt like part of the ROSL family."

"What a fantastic time my guests and I had last night! The Black Velvet Band guys certainly know how to get a party going and my guests and I responded in the appropriate manner. It was the BEST party I have ever been to – and several guests asked if we can have another ceilidh soon."
