"Just wanted to say thank you to everyone at Murphy's Lore for Saturday night - you were fantastic and absolutely made the day. We had lots of first time ceilidh-ers who were sceptical before it began and they kept telling me how much fun they were having! This really was the most fun evening. Great energy and enthusiasm . What happy memories we will all have of all that laughter"

"For the third year The Brixham Pirate Festival will have The Extonions playing on the Main Stage. Pirates are a discerning crew and The Extonions had them a jiggin' and toe tappin' throughout their set. HUZZAH!!!"

Thank younRuss , while it lasted under your management, we though roughly enjoyed every moment as did the crowd. People often ask why we are not playing anymore on the main stage, and we have to say, we don't know.

"Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio provided a brilliant ceilidh for our wedding celebrations at Goldney Hall, Bristol on 12 August 2017. What a fantastic evening! The band entertained our hardy Scottish guests with well-known Scottish dances but it was most enjoyable to see English friends and family ceilidh dancing for the first time and loving it! The dances were called very clearly and were quite ambitious so there was much hilarity. It was infectious fun and everyone got involved. (The dance floor was almost too small!) Mike and the band were extremely accommodating, professional and enthusiastic. The band has a huge repertoire and organised the evening flawlessly, from our first dance (Gay Gordons) to the throwing of the bouquet and the final Circassian Circle. Highly recommended. Thanks again for a fantastic evening of fun!"

"What can we say?! You guys were fantastic, we had so much fun as did our guests who have not stopped with the compliments since. It was our first ceilidh dance like many of our guests but it mattered not at all, Kip was brilliant at calling the moves and getting everyone up on their feet having a go and managing to get us holding it together which is no mean feat when it comes to rhythmically challenged mates!! And for those of my guests who have been to many a ceilidh dance, they too couldn't praise the band highly enough and all said it was the best they have been to. One very happy bride :-) I'd recommend Blue Jewel to anybody wanting to inject some fun into any party - the perfect ice breaking, crowd pleasing entertainment, everyone can join in and have a blast, no rhythm required!! "

"Thinking what music to have at my mothers 100th Birthday event where there would be people with varying musical tastes I immediately thought of Luc . I had heard Luc some years previously and was amazed at not only how beautifully he played but the range of his repertoire which included Jazz, pop, and classical on the harp. Luc played for the whole afternoon and not only was my mother entranced as soon as she entered the room where Luc was playing but many of the other guests were amazed and delighted with the music both its quality and the range. Luc made all the arrangements extremely easy and apart from booking him and checking with the hotel that they could accommodate him Luc did all the rest. I would recommend Luc without hesitation to any event where you want to hear great music. "

"Judy was really well organised and communicated well with prompt responses, even suggesting a local venue that they know works well - exactly what you need when you're organising an event! The band sounded great, with a wide repertoire of songs from different backgrounds but all feeling familiar. The caller struck the perfect balance, teaching and guiding where necessary but allowing the dancers free reign when we got into the swing of it. Everyone had an amazing time, with many, many positive comments received about the band. I will be recommending the Barnbuskers to anyone planning a similar event."

"Exactly what we wanted for our wedding! Excellent musicians throughout and great, clear direction/calling to help those of us that were complete beginners and those that were from Germany with limited English! Genuinely impressed with the pace they managed to keep until the very end... Both the band as well as the guests! Very professional and provided great communication from the moment we booked. "Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio – Amanda’s 60th Birthday Ceilidh – December 2025 Black Velvet Ceilidh Trio played at a ceilidh to celebrate my 60th birthday. It was actually the fourth time they have played at events for my family over the last ten years, and I’m hoping to have them again in future. It was a wonderful afternoon. The band’s music was cheery and infectious and soon got people dancing enthusiastically, including guests aged from five to 85 and those who had previously warned me that they wouldn’t be able to dance because of knee problems! Phil is a fantastic dance caller who makes ceilidh dancing easy and a pleasure even for those who have never done it before. We all really appreciated his clear instructions about each dance. This, together with Black Velvet’s expert musicianship made the ceilidh very enjoyable and huge fun. I can’t wait to do it again! Thanks so much."

"Just a note to say thank you for playing at my mother’s 90th Birthday party last Saturday. She had a wonderful time and commented on how good the band was. I think that everyone enjoyed it, and also got to learn some new dances. Certainly I personally had never danced in sets of seven before. Well done!"
